Hahei is located on the eastern seaboard of The Coromandel Peninsula, North Island, New Zealand.

The east coast of the Coromandel is re known for its pristine white sand beaches, temperate climate (25* C average in summer, 11* C average in winter) and its lush native flora and fauna.

Hahei is home to world famous Cathedral Cove and the Te Whanganui – A - Hei Marine Reserve which covers 9 square kilometres of the Pacific East coast. Within the reserve boundaries can be found rich and varied habitats and bountiful marine life. The Reserve, volcanic coastline and numerous offshore islands attract visiting wildlife including orca whales, dolphins, sea lions, and blue penguins making Hahei a special place for water based activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, fishing, and boat cruising.


Explore The Coromandel from Hahei

Hahei is an ideal base from which to take day trips to explore the northern Coromandel . Whitianga the largest town ( pop. 3,400 ) is a 35 minute drive, north west of Hahei, or 15minutes via passenger ferry from Ferry Landing. Further north is the quaint town of Coromandel approx 1 hour 15 mins from Hahei.

There are a number of beautiful seaside villages and beaches such as Kuatunu, Opito Bay and Whangapoa to enjoy along the way. To the south of Hahei and only 10 mins drive is magical Hot Water Beach a must do for everyone coming to the Coromandel. Further south and only 20 minutes away by car from Hahei is the seaside town of Tairua and Pauanui. The surf town of Whangamata is a further 45 minutes away.
